'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
