And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
