The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 purify your garments; 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
