Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 We have determined the stations of the moon, so that (after its wanderings) it returns as a dried up inflorescent spike of dates. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 Then they will not be able to make bequest, nor they will return to their family. 50
