The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Alif Lam Mim. 1 God! There is no deity save Him, the Living, the Sustainer. 2 He has sent down upon thee the Book with the truth, confirming what was before it, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel 3 for the guidance of mankind; and He has also revealed the Criterion (to distinguish truth from falsehood). A severe chastisement lies in store for those who deny the signs of Allah. Allah is All-Mighty; He is the Lord of Retribution. 4 Lo! nothing in the earth or in the heavens is hidden from Allah. 5 It is He Who fashions you in the wombs as He wills. There is no God but He; the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 6 It is He Who has sent down to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) this Book (the Qur’an) containing the verses that have a clear meaning – they are the core of the Book – and other verses the meanings of which are indistinct; those in whose hearts is deviation pursue the verses having indistinct meanings, in order to cause turmoil and seeking its (wrongful) interpretation; and only Allah knows its proper interpretation; and those having sound knowledge say, “We believe in it, all of it is from our Lord”; and none accept guidance except the men of understanding. 7 Lord, do not cause our hearts to swerve after You have guided us. Grant us Your Mercy. You are the Embracing Giver. 8 Lord, You will surely gather all the people for a Day that will come in which there is no doubt' Allah will not break His promise. 9
