Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
