The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
