Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
