The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
