The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
