a large throng from the ancients, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Just consider the semen that you emit, 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 "In fact, we were unfortunate!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
