Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim. 4 And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. 5 For those who reject their Lord (and Cherisher) is the Penalty of Hell: and evil is (such), Destination. 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. 7 Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner? 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 And they say: Had we been wont to listen or have sense, we had not been among the dwellers in the flames. 10 Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire. 11 Verily those who dread their Lord unseen, theirs shall be forgiveness and a great hire. 12 Whether you say a thing secretly or openly, He knows the innermost secrets of your hearts. 13 Should not He Who has created know? And He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves) All-Aware (of everything). 14
