The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
