The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
