The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The infidels, of which there is no averter. 2 a chastisement from Allah, the Lord of the ascending steps, 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So, (O Prophet), persevere with gracious perseverance. 5 Indeed, they see it [as] distant, 6 But We see it very near. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 His wife and his brother, 12 And his kin that sheltered him. 13 And all those who are on the earth, to save himself. 14 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell 15 Dragging by the head, 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Human beings are created greedy. 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 Except those who closely follow (the Book of God), 22 Those who remain steadfast to their prayer; 23 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged 24 For the petitioner and the deprived - 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's torment 27 surely the chastisement of their Lord is a thing none can feel secure from – 28 and those who guard their private parts, 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 and standby their witnessing, 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
