Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right). 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
