Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
