The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
