۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
