The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
