He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
