The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
