The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
