The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what do you know, how wretched the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun, heights above the heights. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
