The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
