The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
