The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
