The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
