Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
