The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
