I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
