The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
