The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
