The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
