The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19

ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
