۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
