And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
