And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
