The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
