'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
