[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
