Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 5 as a mercy from thy Lord (surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing) 6 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them - if you could but grasp it with inner certainty! 7 There is no deity save Him: He grants life and deals death: He is your Sustainer as well as the Sustainer of your forebears of old. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 WAIT, THEN, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a pall of smoke which will make obvious [the approach of the Last Hour,] 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful punishment. 11 'Our Lord, remove this punishment from us, we are believers' 12 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 15 On the Day We inflict the direst scourge upon all sinners, We will certainly exact retribution. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you, 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 and, behold, it is with my Sustainer - and your Sustainer - that I seek refuge against all your endeavours to revile me. 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 But then, [when they beset him with their enmity,] he called out to his Sustainer, "These are [indeed] people lost in sin!" 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains they left behind them, 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
