The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
