A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
