O thou folded in garments! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
