The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
