The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
