The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
