The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
