He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
